UK REACH Statutory Instrument for deadline extension

On 20 April 202, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) introduced a draft statutory instrument (SI) into the parliamentary process seeking to formally extend the deadlines for registration under UK REACH.

The UK REACH deadlines following the departure of the UK from the European Union were set initially to 2023, 2025 and 2027 according to their tonnage and risk.  However, following a consultation process, Defra agreed to extend the original deadlines by 3 years each.  The proposed new deadlines will carry on until October 2026, October 2028 and October 2030 respectively.

The draft statutory instrument has been introduced under the affirmative procedure, and therefore it will require a formal decision of approval before its entry into force.  CTPA will continue to monitor the progress of the draft and communicate any future changes.
