On 27 August 2026, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published its annual report for its Product Safety Database (PSD) for the year 2025 to 2026.
The report takes data from the weekly reports issued on the PSD by market surveillance authorities which alert of products found to pose a risk to the health and safety of consumers. The weekly reports only cover non-food consumer products; they do not cover food and drink, vehicles, or medicines and medical devices.
The analysis of PSD data can highlight to OPSS where there may be emerging safety for specific products or within certain sectors. This can help to drive OPSS regulatory activity and target market surveillance activity.
The report found that between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026, 2,396 notifications were received on the PSD, covering 3,368 notified products.
The most frequently notified product category on the PSD was cosmetics, personal care and grooming, which accounted for 833 notified products (25%), followed by toys (22%) and electrical appliances and equipment (16%).
