Look Good Feel Better Programme

"There is passion and potential everywhere, and now an ambitious plan to catapult the industry’s charity into its next chapter.
"I joined the Look Good Feel Better team in September 2022 having admired their work as an invested outsider. In my previous role at a hospice in Leeds, and when my own mum became ill with cancer, I’d seen first-hand the toll that treatments can take. I’ve watched people lose their self-confidence, lose themselves and shut themselves away from friends, family members and loved ones. So I knew full-well the power and impact that the charity’s work could have."

Facing Cancer with Confidence

Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) is a programme of confidence-boosting, free skincare and make-up workshops to help people suffering from the visible side effects of cancer treatment. This practical and very effective programme is supported by the beauty industry in 27 countries worldwide with over 2 million people attending workshops somewhere in the world, on 6 continents, since the service started in 1989 in the USA and 1994 in the UK.

LGFB is the only international cancer support charity that helps boost the physical and emotional wellbeing of people undergoing cancer treatment.

Many of the side-effects of cancer treatment are highly distressing as they can dramatically change somebody's appearance and body image. This, in turn, can have a significant impact on self-esteem, personal confidence and ultimately the strength and determination to overcome the difficulties of the treatment itself. Research studies have demonstrated the strong link between feeling confident in your appearance and self-esteem - never more evident than when facing the rigours of cancer treatment.

Making an Impact in the UK

Look Good Feel Better has published its 2022 Impact Report, which highlights how people in communities all over the UK have benefited from its services.

Through face to face make-up and skincare workshops, online group sessions and video tutorials, Look Good Feel Better helps people undergoing cancer treatment to regain their sense of normality and face cancer with confidence.

Across 2022 more than 8,600 people used the charity’s services and 1,429 workshops took place. The 2022 Impact Report brings to life how well-received these services have been by beneficiaries, medical partners and volunteers alike:

Debbie Hunter, Trustee of Look Good Feel Better and Director of Commercial Affairs at CTPA:
“At nearly three decades old, Look Good Feel Better has never been more needed, and the service it offers people goes from strength to strength. The positive impact it has on people’s lives is clear to see in the latest Impact Report.
“CTPA is incredibly proud of the role it played in setting up the Foundation that runs Look Good Feel Better back in 1993. Since the first workshops took place in 1994 it’s incredible to think of the difference it has made to so many people’s wellbeing.”

Look Good Feel Better aims to double its income and the number of beneficiaries it supports over the next three years, in line with growing demand.
