On 22 September 2025, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) published guidance on the Price Marking Order (PMO) 2004, to assist in the understanding and implementation of the Order and its subsequent amendments: Price Marking Amendment Order 2024 and Price Marking Amendment Order 2025.
The PMO establishes the pricing information that must be displayed on price labels for goods for sale. This consists of the ‘selling price’, the price the consumer pays for the item, and the unit price, the price which would be charged for a particular weight or volume of goods.
The amendments made by both orders will come into effect on 6 April 2026; the guidance covers the PMO as it will come into effect in April 2026.
