On 4 April 2024, the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) issued its draft opinion on the safety of triphenyl phosphate when used as a plasticiser in nail products at 5%. For more information about the mandate for this assessment, please see this news item.
The SCCS concluded that it is not possible to conclude on the safety of triphenyl phosphate because the genotoxicity potential cannot be excluded.
The draft opinion is open for comments until 2 June 2024.
