On 14 February 2024, Cosmetics Europe (CE – the EU personal care association) and the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI) launched their joint guidance on the EU REACH microplastics restriction.
The guidance outlines:
- the requirements of the restriction;
- a step-by-step approach to help you decide if your polymer is a synthetic polymer microparticle (SPM);
- Frequently Asked Questions;
- legal interpretations.
The document is very practical and easy-to-use, also containing explanations and examples of the derogations, practical case studies and information on the labelling of the instructions for use and disposal.
Companies are encouraged to refer to this guidance to familiarise with the requirements of the EU REACH restriction on microplastics, and ensure compliance with the requirements.
