On 21 October, the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) launched a Call for Evidence, seeking to gain feedback on the regulatory burdens faced by businesses. The aim is to identify what aspects of regulations, or their implementation, create problems for businesses, to determine where change is required.
In particular, DBT would like to gain evidence on current activity costs, including examples of any direct or indirect costs to businesses as a result of regulation, as well as opportunity costs, looking at how the application of regulations may delay or prevent future business opportunities.
This follows on from the recently published DBT report on the Business Perceptions Survey (BPS) for 2024 which cited that 47% of businesses reported finding regulation an obstacle to their success, and will form part of the Government’s Regulation Action Plan seeking to enable a regulatory system that supports innovation and economic growth
The call for evidence will be open until 16 December 2025 via the following link.
