OPSS has published guidance on the application of the EU GPSR in Northern Ireland.
From 13 December 2024, the EU Regulation 2023/988 on General Product Safety will come into force and will apply in Northern Ireland (NI).
Therefore, OPSS has published a fact sheet and detailed guidance document for businesses placing products on the market in NI. The aim is to provide an overview of the regulation and the obligations for manufacturers, authorised representatives, importers, distributors, fulfilment service providers, and the providers of online marketplaces.

As reported in this news item, Cosmetics Europe (CE) has published a guidance document on the application of the EU GPSR to cosmetic products. The guidance document is available to download here.
OPSS is hosting a series of drop-in sessions to provide businesses with the opportunity to ask questions on how the new GPSR applies in NI.
The sessions will be hosted on the following dates:
- 9 December – 10:00-11:00
- 13 December – 14:00-15:00
- 18 December – 10:00-11:00
- 27 December – 10:00-11:00
- 10 January – 10:00-11:00
- 17 January – 10:00-11:00.
