On 17 June 2026, the Council and European Parliament reached an agreement on the Omnibus VI Package on Chemicals. This forms as part of the EU’s Simplification Initiative which aims to reduce regulatory burdens and compliance costs for businesses, to boost competitiveness and innovation within Europe.
The negotiated agreement still awaits formal adoption by European Parliament and European Council before its publication, which is estimated for the end of the year. The updated text will be applicable 20 days after its publication.
