The 7th round of Brexit negotiations between the UK and the EU held during week commencing 17 August has now concluded. Little progress was made, and while a Free Trade Agreement agreed in principle by October is still possible, the risk of continuing to trade under World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules remains high.
Both David Frost, UK Chief Negotiator, and Michel Barnier, Head of Task Force for Relations with the United Kingdom, issued statements following the conclusion of the negotiations.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for week commencing 7 September. CTPA willcontinue to update on the developments on this topic.
