CTPA launched a new guidance titled ‘Special Considerations for Specific Product Types in the Cosmetic Product Safety Report’. This guidance aims to support cosmetic safety assessors and colleagues in regulatory affairs with additional safety considerations that must be taken into account and must be reported within the Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) for some specific products, due to their formulation or site of application.
Some examples of these specific product categories, and some important safety considerations, included within this guidance are:
- Products presenting a suitable environment for microbial contamination.
- Traces and impurities.
- Stability of cosmetic products.
- Products intended for children under three years of age.
- Products containing nanomaterials.
- Products containing botanical ingredients or essential oils.
CTPA members can access this guidance for free; it is available to non-members for a payable fee of £90. The guidance can be accessed in the Publications section of the CTPA website, under the 'Safety' tab.
