CTPA and Cosmetics Europe conduct monitoring on cosmetic ingredients which are undergoing regulatory processes which could impact their use in cosmetic products.
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has proposed the following new entry for its Registry of Intentions:
Aminomethyl propanol (2-amino-2-methylpropanol - EC 204-709-8, CAS 124-68-5);
- Annex III entry 61 (monoalkylamines, monoalkanolamines and their salts)
- Proposed CMR (reprotox) category 1B – Austria
- Intention – 15 Dec 2022
If any companies are using this ingredient and would be interested in contributing to the defence of its continued use, please contact CTPA at [email protected] for further information by COP 15 February. This would involve contribution of financial resources to defence activities, and scientific information demonstrating its safe use, if available.
Please be aware that the chemicals which undergo classification in the EU are automatically considered for classification under GB CLP. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which is responsible for mandatory classifications under GB CLP, encourages interested parties to contribute to the EU consultation on proposed classifications under EU CLP if they have comments on the classification because there will not be a separate consultation in GB.
