The UK Prepares for Enhanced Trade Deal with Switzerland

On 28 April 2022, the UK announced their intention to work on negotiating a new enhanced trade deal with Switzerland.  The Department for International Trade (DIT) is launching an eight-week consultation on a new UK-Swiss Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to seek views of UK businesses and the public ahead of the start of negotiations.

Although many UK businesses already benefit from tariff free trade on most goods under the existing trade agreement rolled over from the EU, the current deal does not cover services, which account for over half of the bilateral relationship.  Further details on the upcoming negotiations can be found on the UK Government website.
