The self-tanning and hair dye ingredient dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is expected to be added to Annex III of the EU Cosmetics Regulation in mid-2021. Maximum concentrations of 6.25% as a hair dye substance in non-oxidative hair dye products and 10% in self-tanning products will be set. See further information here.
A call for interest to defend the safe use of higher concentrations of DHA in self-tanning products under the UK Cosmetics Regulation was recently issued by CTPA. There was interest from the UK cosmetics industry and therefore a CTPA Consortium is being established. The Consortium is always open to join so any companies who have not already expressed an interest in being involved in this work, please contact [email protected].
