EU REACH – Public Consultation on the Legislative Review

The EU Commission has launched a public consultation seeking views on the targeted revision of Regulation (EC) 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (EU REACH).  This consultation follows the announcement by the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability adopted in October 2020, which was followed by the EU REACH Inception Impact Assessment held I during 2021 (see news item).

The REACH consultation will seek views on the following:

  • Section I: Registration – information requirements on critical hazards, substances marketed at lowest tonnage levels, endocrine disruptors, polymers, environmental footprint, use and exposure, and the introduction of Mixtures Assessment Factor (MAF)
  • Section II: Evaluation – changes to the provision on the evaluation process
  • Section III: Authorisation and Restriction – concept of essential use in authorisation and restrictions, generic risk management approach

The consultation will remain open until 15 April 2022, and businesses and business organisations are invited to contribute.
