EU Commission Launches Call for Evidence on the EU CPR

On 21 February 2025, the EU Commission opened a call for evidence on the EU Cosmetic Products Regulation (EU CPR). This is in the context of an evaluation of the EU CPR and is the first step in this process.

As mentioned in the call for evidence, the EU Commission is looking at how the regulation is applied, whether it has delivered on its objectives and whether it remains fit for purpose in the context of the green and digital transitions, and the competitiveness, both internal and external, of EU businesses. All aspects of the regulation are covered under the evaluation, including the CPNP or notification portal.

Following the call for evidence, the EU Commission will launch a public consultation in the second quarter of 2025, which will last for 12 weeks. A final report on the consultation outcomes will likely precede the adoption of any changes, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2026.
