CTPA Resources Following the UK Exit from the EU

Following the UK exit from the EU on 31 January 2020 and the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020, the EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 and many other EU regulations applicable to cosmetic products and their ingredients are no longer applicable in the UK with the exception of Northern Ireland.

The CTPA team will be working on new resources, to be made available publicly and to members, to describe the UK regulatory frameworks applicable to cosmetics as a matter of priority.  Additionally, CTPA is also prioritising the update of its EU/EEA/UK Online Regulatory Resource (available to subscribed members only) and the CTPA Guide to Supplying a Cosmetic Product.  A comprehensive review of all CTPA website resources will follow, to update relevant information applicable to the EU and to the UK separately. Until such a time this is complete, please exercise caution when consulting CTPA resources and ensure you have checked when these were last updated.

However, CTPA will maintain its Brexit public resource available for some time in 2021: whilst the advice refers to the end of the transition period, a lot of the information is still relevant as it outlines the changes that have become applicable as of 1 January 2021.  For the specific up to date advice, please visit the CTPA public resources.
