As an update to the CTPA news item published on 8 January 2026, CTPA is pleased to inform members that UK Packaging PRO has been appointed as the new packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO).
On 1 January 2026, an amending pEPR Statutory Instrument entered into force, introducing powers to appoint an independent, not-for-profit PRO to work alongside PackUK in delivering pEPR. PackUK announced today that UK Packaging PRO will take on this role from 1 April 2026. This milestone brings the UK closer to international best practice by strengthening producer leadership and accountability within pEPR.
CTPA supported the application of UK Packaging PRO and looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively to help ensure the successful delivery of an effective and producer-led pEPR system.
