On 1 February 2022, the Department for International Trade (DIT) launched an eight-week call for input to seek views of businesses and the public on proposed negotiations to upgrade the existing UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement signed in February 2019. A new agreement with Israel will aim to benefit UK businesses from lower tariffs and better market access.
DIT is specifically welcoming views on:
- which Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) articles (e.g., standards, conformity assessment, transparency) the UK government need to prioritise in trade talks with Israel and why;
- any concerns about Israel’s approach to World Trade Organisation (WTO) TBT Agreement compliance;
- any TBT-relevant challenges or constraints when attempting to trade in Israel, and if so, how significant are they on businesses activity.
