On 21 May 2025, the Scientific Advisory Group on Chemical Safety in Consumer Products (SAG-CS) published its opinion on UV filter homosalate in cosmetic products.
SAG-CS concluded that homosalate is safe at a maximum concentration of 10% in sunscreen products.
SAG-CS also concluded that the Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model was adequately representative of the actual exposures likely to be reached following use of homosalate-containing cosmetic products, and was robust and predictive. Therefore, SAG-CS accepted the outcome of the PBPK modelling.
