Homosalate is a UV filter permitted for use in cosmetic products. Based on the opinion from the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) in the EU in 2021, the maximum concentration of Homosalate is being amended in the EU Cosmetics Regulation to 7.34% in face products (excluding propellant sprays) only. The deadline for products not complying with the new concentration limits to be available on the market is 1 July 2025.
Please note that this does not apply in GB. The UK scientific committee, the Scientific Advisory Group on Chemical Safety in Consumer Products published an opinion in 2025 which confirms the safety of Homosalate at 10% in all cosmetic products.
