On 29 September 2026, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) launched its technical consultation on the draft Statutory Instrument (SI), outlining the registration requirements under the Alternative Transitional Registration model (ATRm) under the UK Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation. The ATRm applies to chemicals that were already registered under EU REACH prior to EU Exit day (1 January 2021).
Being a technical consultation, it seeks comments on the wording of the draft legislation, in particular any potential drafting issue, omission, ambiguity, inconsistency, procedural gaps or unintended consequence that should be addressed before the legislation is finalised.
