On 15 October 2024, the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) launched a call for participation to the industry consortium for the defence of L-carvone (CAS 6485-40-1).
L-carvone is a fragrance ingredient which is proposed for a harmonised classification as a CMR 2 (reprotox) under the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. CMR substances are banned for use in cosmetic products, unless industry applies for an exemption for continued use according to the requirements of Article 15 of the EU Cosmetic Products Regulation (please see this page for more information about this topic).
IFRA is therefore looking to form the consortium of companies that will work on the Article 15 defence dossier for L-carvone, which will be submitted to assessment by the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS). The call for participation is open until 15 November 2024. Companies interested in taking part to this defence work are encouraged to contact CTPA by emailing [email protected]; the CTPA team will follow up with further details and contact from IFRA.
