The final draft of the EU-wide Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH) Regulation’s microplastics restriction was published in September 2022; the final version is expected to be issued in 2023. This restriction will have an extremely significant impact on all cosmetic product categories because its scope includes any solid, synthetic, non-biodegradable polymer in any cosmetic product.
It is extremely important for companies to gain an understanding of the scope of the upcoming EU REACH microplastics restriction, which ingredients and uses may be impacted, which derogations may be in place, how to prepare for compliance.
