In December 2024, CTPA published its Position Paper setting out how the Association fully supports efforts to accelerate the development, validation and uptake of technologies to reduce the use of animals in science in the UK. In particular, the document focusses on the promotion and uptake of Non-Animal New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) for chemicals risk assessment in the UK.
This Position Paper outlines practical steps which can help to achieve this important objective, by addressing challenges in different key areas: communication and collaboration, legislation, funding and incentives, education and confidence building.
The document is publicly available and can be downloaded at this link; it is also available in the Policy section of the CTPA website.
CTPA looks forward to continuing to work with key parties with a shared interest in progress, with the aim of expediting the UK’s strategy for moving to animal-free safety science.
