Cosmetics: Know Your UK REACH

Think that UK REACH doesn’t apply to you? Think again!

The second deadline for UK REACH, which is likely to apply to importers of cosmetic products and ingredients, will be at the end of October 2021.

UK REACH entered into force on 1 January 2021, with the post-Brexit landscape characterised by changes to roles and obligations, a level of uncertainty to business continuity and supply of chemicals (including cosmetic ingredients).  This has especially affected Downstream Users (DUs) of chemicals, which the majority of cosmetic businesses can identify with.  Many DUs are now importers of chemicals from the EU, or from other third countries, meaning that they must submit a Downstream User Import Notification (DUIN) by 28 October 2021 to comply with UK REACH.  A great amount of work might then be needed to cover full registrations in the coming years.

CTPA created relevant UK REACH Infographics ahead of this webinar which can be found by following this link.

This webinar is aimed at all businesses within the cosmetics industry, in particular DUs, including manufacturers and importers, and SMEs.

CTPA was joined by external speakers, including representatives from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) in order to:

  • cover the fundamentals of UK REACH, including an analysis of the roles and responsibilities and how these may apply to your company;
  • DUIN: what it is, what information is needed, how to submit it;
  • business and supply preparedness and advice post-DUIN;
  • resources and support for companies.
