the CTPA International Strategy has been developed with the understanding that accommodating new borders will probably entail that other markets might
be equally as desirable and accessible, and therefore some
of the existing trade balance will move to other regions.
Fortunately for the CTPA, we will continue to be a part of Cosmetics Europe, the European personal care association, and work actively through that to continue to nurture the relationship with the EU and the UK. The collaboration with our sister trade associations both within Europe and internationally
will continue to be key to fostering a collective industry and harnessing the relationships between different countries.
The development of CTPA’s online
International Manual which was launched in
2017 has been one of the cornerstones of our support
to CTPA members wishing to access international markets. The CTPA International Strategy will look at building this resource further, including more information that will be relevant for companies, expanding to new countries and territories and ensuring that upcoming changes are communicated in order to provide sufficient information to allow for business-critical decisions to be made by members. Additionally, the CTPA will be developing an education programme to ensure access to the information to be delivered through new learning opportunities.
Finally, with the world moving at an accelerated speed thanks to digital policies, and the increasing prominence of online retail as a means to access both the UK and international markets, the CTPA will be working with members to further the understanding of the particular requirements for products retailed in digital spaces on a local and international level. Cross-border supply and distribution make for a complex structure and movements within businesses and throughout the supply chain. Increasingly, raw materials are sourced from new territories; manufacturing processes are split according to commercial decisions, available technology and resources; and finished goods are introduced into a global market. Developing a greater understanding of supply chains will
be paramount to understanding the wider global landscape. This knowledge will in turn support the international growth of UK businesses. CTPA stands ready to help its members in this endeavour.
