The UK Launches Consultation on Trade with Israel

On 1 February 2022, the Department for International Trade (DIT) launched an eight-week call for input to seek views of businesses and the public on proposed negotiations to upgrade the existing UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement signed in February 2019.  A new agreement with Israel will aim to benefit UK businesses from lower tariffs and better market access.

DIT is specifically welcoming views on:

  • which Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) articles (e.g., standards, conformity assessment, transparency) the UK government need to prioritise in trade talks with Israel and why;
  • any concerns about Israel’s approach to World Trade Organisation (WTO) TBT Agreement compliance;
  • any TBT-relevant challenges or constraints when attempting to trade in Israel, and if so, how significant are they on businesses activity.

The consultation closes on 30th March 2022.  More information on the call for input can be found on the UK Government website.
