OPSS Increases the Transition Period to Label the UKCA Mark

On 24 August, the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) issued a communication to inform companies that the application of the UKCA mark will have an extra year of transition period.  This means that the UKCA marking of products will become mandatory as of 1 January 2023.  The UK Government will introduce legislation to make this change effective on the Product Safety and Metrology Statutory Instrument, which regulates consumer goods.

Companies are reminded that the UKCA marking is only applicable to aerosols in respect of cosmetic products.  For more information, please visit the Aerosols section of the Brexit Public resource.  CTPA will keep companies informed on the changes to the legislation.
