Brexit Updates – UK/EU Negotiations

The second round of the UK/EU negotiations was held during week commencing 20 April.  According to the statement issued on 24 April by Michel Barnier, the EU Head of Task Force for Relations with the UK, very little progress has been and there are still some key issues that have to be resolved.

There is an increasing risk for the future UK/EU relationship to not have any formal agreement on partnership or cooperation, and for trade to be under World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules when the current transition period ends on 31 December 2020.  Companies are therefore advised to continue to prepare for the most impactful scenario.

Whilst CTPA is providing detailed information to members, the Association will continue to keep companies updated on the progress of the negotiations and on any possible developments regarding the transition period through its  CTPA Brexit Public Advice resource for non-members.
