The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA) is the voice of the cosmetics and personal care industry in the UK, promoting good working practice and representing the interests of its members through active dialogue with UK Government, European and international regulators, interested stakeholders and media.  Membership comprises manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, retailers and service providers, from SMEs to multi-nationals. 

CTPA has an ambitious Sustainability Strategy: ‘Driving Towards a Net Positive Cosmetics Industry’, developed in partnership with Forum for the Future.  As a trade association CTPA is in a unique position to effect change at a pre-competitive level.  Building on the work members are doing individually on sustainability, the Association is bringing members together to share best practice and drive system-wide change to represent a balanced, conscientious, world-leading industry. 

CTPA is currently recruiting to increase its environmental capabilities in order to further the Sustainability Strategy, with a particular focus on increasing the environmental legislative knowledge of the Association.  This Information Officer role offers the possible advancement to Environmental Affairs Manager with the appropriate experience and expertise.  

In supporting members and the wider industry to become more sustainable, the position involves helping to gather and collate information on environmental legislation that impacts on the cosmetics and personal care industry, with a particular focus on packaging.  The role will include liaison with regulatory authorities and participation at the European personal care association, Cosmetics Europe, which will involve some degree of travel.  The ability to act independently and on own initiative to carry projects through to a successful conclusion will be instrumental in a successful progression to an exciting career with this leading trade association. 

The successful candidate must have strong interest in environmental affairs and possess a good honours degree in a relevant discipline or have proven experience of working in this area.  A scientific background and knowledge of the cosmetics and personal care industry would be beneficial.  Attention to detail and the ability to review and critique legal text is essential.  Excellent writing and communication skills are required together with a high level of computer literacy and the ability to organise and prioritise one’s own work programme. 

CTPA is an office-based organisation, the offices are centrally located in London, W1, although all team members are currently working from home according to Government requirements.
