Practical Case Studies: Cosmetic Raw Materials Safety Assessment

 

Calling all those in cosmetic product development to attend 'Principles of Cosmetic Safety Assessment Using Alternatives to Animal Testing' virtual training run jointly by CTPA and XCellR8.  The training will be delivered by industry experts using practical case studies.

The last session will feature a panel of three industry experts from Croda International, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Unilever.  A Safety assessment of cosmetic raw materials with emphasis on skin sensitisation will be the focus of this session. 

Clare Liptrot is a Global Product Safety & Regulatory Affairs Manager for the personal care business at Croda International. She has an MSc in Applied Toxicology from the University of Surrey and over 15 years experience in consumer product safety and regulatory affairs.  In addition, she is the chair of the Polymer Working Group at the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI).

Dr Carol Courage is a Senior Product Safety Manager at Walgreens Boots Alliance. She has a PhD from University College Dublin in developing in vitro screening methods for anticonvulsant inducted teratogenesis.  She followed this with two post-doctoral research projects in cancer research at Aston University in Birmingham and Medical   Research Council Toxicology unit in Leicester.  Dr Courage has previously worked as a Senior Toxicologist at Medical Research Council and Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre.

Dr Paul Russell is a Science and Programme Leader at Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre.  He gained a BSc in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Sunderland and a PhD      from King’s College London developing comprehensive analytical fingerprinting techniques in support of natural product risk assessment.  Dr Russell is currently leading areas of Unilever’s programme on assuring product safety without the use of animals.  He is a Chartered Chemist and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and sits on                                 the RSC Toxicology Special Interest Group Committee.
