ECHA – UK Registrations under EU REACH

As a consequence of Brexit, UK registrations under EU REACH are no longer valid.  The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has been advising UK registrants wishing to continue to supply to the EU market to transfer their registrations to EU-based entities by the end of the Brexit transition period (31 December 2020).  This advice has also been reflected by CTPA to its members.

As of 11 January 2021, around 20% of UK registrations have not been transferred to an EU-based entity and will therefore be revoked.  For an amount of these substances the transfer was not completed in time, and ECHA is giving until 31 March 2021 to completed the process.  For more information please visit the ECHA website.

It is important to highlight that the chemicals covered by the UK-held registrations which have not been transferred, and have therefore been revoked, will no longer be available to the EU market; this will affect some EU businesses using those chemicals on their own or as part of finished products.
