Brexit Updates – UK Import Controls

On 10 February, the UK Government issued a communication introducing its plans on import controls at the border on EU goods after the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020.

Now that the UK has left he EU, it will no longer be part of the Customs Union and the Single Market.  Therefore, goods moving between the UK and the EU will be subject to customs declarations and specific customs procedures.  Companies can prepare by applying for an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) number and gain an understanding of the customs procedures for third countries.
