On 28 April 2021, the EU Parliament voted with a large majority in favour of granting its consent to the implementation of the UK/EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA). The TCA is now officially coming into effect in the EU after 30 April 2021. For more information, please view the press release from the EU Parliament.
The official EU ratification of the TCA will not introduce any practical difference to the changes in trade and regulations that we have seen as a consequence of the UK leaving the EU. However, it will provides the legal basis for future cooperation between the UK and the EU.
